Careers — North Loop, Minneapolis
Build a book you own inside a shop worth being part of.
Keep control of your craft, your schedule, your prices, and your clients — and get the demand, the tools, and the standard that serious barbers usually have to build alone.
An empty Tuesday isn’t freedom. It’s a bill.
Gaps in the book. Regulars who quietly stop rebooking. Hours spent being your own marketer, photographer, and receptionist — unpaid — between cuts. Add it up over a year and a quiet chair is the most expensive thing you own.
That’s not a motivation problem. It’s a systems problem. So we built the system.
The system: our own app, and the machine around it.
Every barber here gets the Studio AZ app — proprietary software we built for this shop — and the machine around it:
The app
Your numbers, explained — rebooking, retention, utilization, tips, earnings — and the money you left on the floor, with the one thing to fix first.
The demand engine
A profile and booking page on the city's highest-rated barbershop site, plus a gallery that books cuts on its own.
The photography room
Every photo you shoot becomes part of your public portfolio, with booking attached.
The education library
A structured hair-theory course, ~50 technique videos, and a 20-chapter audiobook on building a career in this industry.
You cut hair. The system does the rest of the job.
A system is only worth believing if it produces evidence. So here’s some.
The Studio AZ app

Real screens from the Studio AZ app. Numbers shown are illustrative, not any barber’s actual figures.
The demand is not hypothetical.
We build and run ad campaigns for our barbers. Our last one booked 83 appointments in 30 days at $4.23 per booked appointment. You fund your own spend, billed at cost, no markup — and every dollar of it is tracked line-by-line in the app.
That’s not a promise about your income. It’s campaign data, and it means the chair doesn’t sit quiet while your book grows.

Month three, one of ours.
A text we got from one of our barbers, three months in. It says more than three paragraphs would.
This is what early traction looks like when a barber has a real environment and a system behind them.

Your chair is yours. The standard is shared.
We’re not trying to turn you into a corporate barber. Nobody here micromanages your schedule, your prices, or your personality.
But independent doesn’t mean “I do what I want and everyone else deals with it.” This shop works because the barbers care about more than their next cut. They keep the place clean. They treat clients well. They show up when they said they would. They make the team better. That’s where the rating comes from — and the rating is what keeps every chair here warm, including yours. The standard isn’t the fine print of this offer. It is the offer.
We’re not competing with other shops. We compete with who we were last month. Not everyone’s cut out to rise to that, and that’s fine.
If you want maximum liberties with minimum obligations, this probably is not your shop.
The Barber Growth Partnership
What comes with the chair.
One offer. Five parts. No asterisks: ownership of your book, a demand system, your numbers explained, an education, and a standard that protects the reputation you benefit from.
- 01A chair that's yoursBooth rent, weekly, everything you earn is yours. Your schedule, your services, your prices, your client relationships. We don't take a cut and we don't tell you what to charge.
- 02The launch rampYour rent starts lower and steps up as your book fills. The exact terms come after we talk — they depend on where your book stands today, and we'd rather set them honestly than print a number that fits nobody.
- 03The demand machineThe profile, the booking page, the gallery that books cuts on its own, and the ad system you just saw the numbers on — yours to switch on when you want it, at cost.
- 04Your numbers, explainedThe app, every day, on your phone: what you earned, what you leaked, what to fix first. Most barbers guess. Ours look.
- 05The educationThe course, the audiobook, the technique library, and the photography corner — because the craft and the picture of the craft both pay your rent.
The launch promise
If we don’t finish your profile, booking setup, app access, portfolio setup, and launch plan inside the onboarding window we agree on, your ramp rate holds until we do. Our side of the deal is ours to keep.
Why this shop.
5.0 stars across 549Google reviews — the highest-rated barbershop in Minneapolis. A North Loop storefront surrounded by retail and apartment towers, two minutes from Target Field. And a roster that stays — our barbers have rarely left us, and that’s the stat we’re proudest of.
We’re building the shop that pushes this industry forward in Minnesota — the software, the education, the standard. If that sentence makes you roll your eyes, fair. The numbers above weren’t written by a copywriter. Meet the barbers already here and the work on the wall.
How much do barbers make at Studio AZ?
Our barbers set their own prices — the current roster charges $35 to $80 a cut, and every dollar of it is theirs. Those are menu prices, not an earnings promise: different barbers, different starting points, same machine. Your income here is your book times your prices — nobody can promise you a number, and you should walk out of any shop that does. The campaign data and the month-three text above are the honest version: here’s the machine, do your own math.
The opportunity is real. The question is whether you’re the right person for it.
Apply to build your book at Studio AZ.
Five questions. Real answers beat long ones.
Open right now: Licensed Barber — Full-time chair. Booth rental with a launch ramp; commission structure available for the right fit. Minneapolis license required.
One requirement up front: an Instagram or an equivalent public portfolio. Not because we want influencers — because it makes marketing you ten times easier, and because clients pick a barber before they ever sit down: the work, the vibe, the personality. We can’t market what we can’t see, and neither can they. If your craft is strong and your social presence is thin, apply anyway and say so. Building the presentation is one of the things we do.
Studio AZ Barbershop — chair application

Who are you?
We don’t accept every barber who applies — we look for craft, professional habits, visible work, and coachability.
Questions barbers actually ask.
- How does booth rent work at Studio AZ?
- You rent your chair by the week and everything you earn is yours. New barbers start on a reduced launch rate while their book fills — the exact numbers come after we talk, because they depend on where your book stands today. No percentages skimmed, no surprise fees.
- Do you need a license to cut hair in Minnesota?
- Yes. Minnesota requires a barber or cosmetology license to cut hair for pay, and we require one to take a chair. If you're in school or finishing your hours, apply anyway and tell us where you're at — the timing can work.
- Can I start on commission instead of booth rent?
- Sometimes. Booth rental is our model, but for select barbers who are still building their book, a commission arrangement can be the right way to start. That's a conversation, not a menu option.
- Do I keep my own clients, prices, and schedule?
- Yes. Your book is yours, your prices are yours, and you set your own hours from your phone. What's shared is the standard — how the shop looks, how clients get treated, and showing up when you said you would.
- What do barbers at Studio AZ charge?
- Our current roster charges $35 to $80 a cut, each barber setting their own rate. Where you land on that range is up to you and your work.
